2 Player Games on One Device

Sometimes the best opponent is sitting right next to you. These two player games are designed for sharing a single phone, tablet or laptop. Turn-based classics such as Chess, Checkers, Four in a Row, Reversi and Mancala use pass-and-play: make your move and hand the device over. Games with secrets, such as Sea Battle, Hangman and Code Breaker, show a "pass the device" screen between turns so nobody can peek at the other player's ships or words. For pure speed, split-screen games put one player at each end of the screen: Paddle Ball, Whack-a-Mole, Quick Math Duel and Reaction Duel let you both play at exactly the same time, with the top half turned around for the player opposite. Add your names on the setup screen so the scoreboard knows who is winning, and keep the rematches coming. No sign-up is needed, and every game works offline once it has loaded.

Setting up for split-screen

Lay the phone flat on a table between you, or hold a tablet in portrait mode. Each player only needs to touch their own half, and both halves respond at the same time.

Do two player games need two phones?

No. Everything on this page works on a single device. If you are apart, many of these games also have online rooms.

Can more than two people play on one device?

Yes — Ludo, Snakes and Ladders, Dots and Boxes and Memory Match support up to four players passing one device, and Draw & Guess supports up to eight.

Can one player be the computer?

In most board games you can choose Play vs Computer instead, and in Ludo you can switch any seat to a computer player.
